Most couples are cheaper with their encouragement than a cheeseburger from the dollar menu.
The truth is that we need to feel appreciated by our better half every single day.
MEN!
We are especially guilty of forgetting to verbally appreciate our wives. I get it. We think, “Honey, you know I love you so why do I need to say it every single day?”
But how much praise do we actually need?
Research says that we need a 5:1 ratio of positives to negatives to feel happy in any relationship. In a marriage? It’s probably more like 10:1.
Proverbs 16:24 states, Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to soul and healing the bones.
So, ladies and gentlemen, here’s your homework assignment:
Give your partner three appreciations tonight to show them how much you care and value them.
Appreciating your partner is yet another one of the things we cover in a program I call Fix My Marriage.
Check out this page for more tips on how you can improve your marriage – because building a culture of appreciation in your marriage is just one of them.

P.S.- My wife and I agreed to do this awhile back and fell back into old habits. To fix that, we wrapped daily appreciation around a ritual we never forget to do: prayer. After prayer, we share our three appreciations before we go to bed. Sometimes, the appreciations feel so good that we stay up a little late (wink).
